Let's focus people

I am so saddened to see all the hit piece diaries and the negative comments that show up in positive diaries about a candidate.

There are very serious issues in the US and the world, and bitching about "yea, but can candidate X carry Florida?" is pretty near the F-ing bottom.

So folks, can we stay focused please?  Join me below for the real issues.

/rant on

1.  KBR Rapes and lack of accountability of the perpetrators.

A woman was gang raped and threatened and there is probably no way to prosecute the wrong-doers.  Contractors in Iraq are above the law and can kill, maim, rape, without consequence thanks to Bremmer.

2.  Gitmo

The top prosecutor just resigned because the MCA is a travesty of justice (among other reasons).  HUMAN BEINGS are being denied due process because someone somewhere thought they might be dangerous.

3.  War with IRAN.

The neo-cons have not given up their quest to attack Iran.  They are ginning it up in the press and trying to diminish the NIE, if not trying to use it to make the case for another preemptive war.

4.  Health care crisis.

47 MILLION Americans that cannot access health care because of a system that is run by the bean counters.  As Eve puts it so eloquently, murder by spreadsheet.

5.  War in Iraq.  

The Democrats are going to cave in again and give Mr. 24% exactly what he wants, another blank check to continue an increasingly unpopular and disastrous war.  

6.  Global Warming.

It is increasingly obvious to me that the US is not going to do anything about this and that that is just fine by a large percentage of the population.  We are destroying the planet and no one seems to give a shit (except for us on DKos).

7.  Housing/Mortgage crisis.

The bottom is falling out, foreclosures are increasing, and we can't stay with negative real interest rates forever.  This hurts the little guy, and not the big guy with enough cash and other assets to ride it out.

8.  A runaway "homeland security department" that is more about politics than safety.  They just took my damn toothpaste away from me.  Sanity anyone?

9.  Add your own...

Things in the US are crappy and getting worse, so stop with the "My candidate can beat up your candidate" crap and let's focus on the real issues.
